Welcome to Part 3 of the Attached Striking Programme. If you've enrolled in part 2 and part 3, this is the end of the programme and brings all the training togethers.
As a reminder, attached striking (aka someone holding your clothing) is one of the most common self defence situations faced day to day, but is often missing from most Krav Maga or Self Defence classes.
This is why I created the Attached Striking Programme (ASP) to give you the structure you need to teach this to your students in your regular classes.
In part 1, you learnt the ABC model for decision making in conflict situations and we focused on the route of creating distance.
In part 2, we focused on the alternative option of closing distance to clinch and control, where creating distance was not a option.
In part 3, we bring everything together with tactical scenario based training and edged weapons defence integration.
Scenario based training is crucial for effective self defence training for 2 key reasons:
-
Tactics Over Techniques - Self defence situations are not constant, they change rapidly and being able to change your behaviour and not just follow a technique based process, is essential.
-
Edged Weapons - When an edged weapon is present, it is often not seen. Being able to recognise change in behaviour, that may indicate an edged weapon threat must be included in all training.
The right technique in the wrong tactical context is in fact, the wrong technique. In Part 3, we focus on scenario training where we use the ABC model as a constant process, to make ongoing decisions based on what is happening second by second.
Part 3 also shows how time plays a major factor in decisions making, as well as the present of third party threats, which may also include edged weapons.
Part 3 also includes using dominant grips with attached situations and how to defend against them.
In Part 3 you will learn:
- How to integrate scenario based training
- The friend or threat drill for quick decision making. training
- How to use dominant grips in attached situations
- How to think and train against edged weapons in attached situations,
Attached striking training is something that Krav Maga and Self Defence Instructors must not ignore.
